1. Skill developmental projects

Skill is needed to make our life easy. There are many things in the skill development field, like carpentry, arts and crafts, plumbing, handloom, farming etc. Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala has undertaken skill development project in one remote village called Nongtaw under Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh to teach life skills with our various programs and activities for the unemployed youth. We would like to enhance their skills so that they are employable, which will directly benefit the society and the unemployed youth in particular. From the day our project started in the year 2018 we have undertaken these skill development activities: traditional house making, carpentry, arts and crafts of bamboo, horticulture program like growing organic fruits and vegetables, flowers, rice, cereals, crops like corn, peas and potatoes. We wish to conduct more of such activities in the future.

2. Mahabodhi Aruna Forest Meditation centre skill development projects.

Another main project is Mahabodhi Aruna Forest Meditation centre. We have built meditation huts in a traditional way to practice meditation in the Forest Mountains of Nongtaw which is connected to ranges of the Himalayan Mountains. The place and the surrounding is so beautiful with abundant flora and fauna. It has beautiful natural landscapes and valleys. It is an ideal place of meditation for monastic and lay people. We welcome everyone to come and stay at our centre to practice meditation. A German group of six people visited our centre and were impressed by our activities and had a memorable nature walk around the centre in November 2019. Bhante Ananda, General Secretary of Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru visited our centre in January 2020. He was happy to see our project coming up beautifully and stayed with us for few days and practiced meditation.
